This year, Andy is again impressing theatre audiences around the country with his latest tour History of the Big Bands, which sees him paying tribute to the golden era of swing music. Backed by a magnificent 13 piece big band, Andy puts the soul back into swing by guiding the audience through the band leaders and big band vocalists that have influenced him throughout his career:
"This show pays tribute not only to the best Big Band music ever written, but some of the best music ever written full stop. It's such a privilege to be able to sing these numbers that were made famous by vocalists like Ella Fitzgerald, Sammy Davis Jr and Frank Sinatra. When you hear their amazing voices and the incredible rhythm and phrasing in the swing arrangements, it's impossible not to just get up and dance!"
Of all Andy's achievements in the music industry, none is more special to the star than an appearance at the after party of the Ivor Novello Awards in 2006. Andy performed a medley of songs by legendary production duo Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff. With the production veterans in the audience, Andy performed a tribute to their work including a show stopping rendition of 'Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now'.
Dubbed the 'voice of the people', Andy shot to fame when he finished runner-up on the world famous TV show X-Factor in 2005. Andy's soulful voice and down to earth personality saw him wow his mentor Sharon Osbourne, the judges and the public week after week as he took classic songs such as 'Unforgettable', 'The Greatest Love of All' and 'Me and Mrs Jones' and made them his own in soaring, searing, soulful renditions.
